Former Newcastle manager Harry Redknapp believes Alexander Isak is the best striker in the Premier League this season.
Manchester City star Erling Haaland has been in red-hot form at the start of the season but has only managed one goal in his last five games, although he is still the top scorer with 13 goals, while Isak has rediscovered form, scoring six goals in his last eight games, including a superb strike against Liverpool in a 3-3 draw earlier this month.
With his excellent performances in the past, plus his current form, Harry believes that Isak is now the best striker in the league above Haaland.
“Alexander Isak is a top striker,” the 77-year-old said. “He scored one goal and made an assist against Leicester. He could have scored three or four goals himself.”
“I think he’s probably the best striker in the Premier League right now.”
Despite having a contract with Newcastle until 2028, Isak’s consistent level of performance has seen the forward consistently linked with a move away from St James’ Park.
Arsenal have been moot as UFABET a club that could make a move for the 25-year-old. With former Gunners midfielder Paul Merson surprised that the club didn’t try to sign him in the summer.
‘I’m a big fan of this lad.’ Merson told Ufabet Sports ‘I’m surprise Arsenal didn’t try and break the bank for him over the summer. I think he was the missing link for Arsenal.
‘I think he can do everything, he can come short, he gets in the box, he can spread the game.
‘That’s what Arsenal need. You need to spread the game so you can get players like Odegaard and Saka on the ball.
