One of South Africa’s greatest ever batsmen has retired from international cricket. Hashim Mohammed Amla is a South African former international cricket who played for Africa in all three formats of the game.
Amla held the record for being the fastest ever to 2000,3000,4000,5000,6000,7000 ODI runs. He also became the fastest cricketer to reach 10 ODI centuries. Amla is an off-break right-arm medium-fast bowler. He was South African test captain from June 2014 to January 2016. He has 9,282 runs in 124 test with a batting average of 46.64 in test cricket. He also has 8,113 in 178 innings with an average of 49.46 in ODI cricket.
Hashim Amla is a right-handed batsman who holds the record for the highest individual test score of any south African batsman of 311 not out, scored against England at the oval, in July 2012. Amla scored ODI centuries against all test playing countries and is only the fourth person to do so. He was named as one of the WISDEN CRICKETER OF THE YEAR in 2013.
In the year of 2014, he became the fastest cricketer to reach 15 centuries in ODIS in 86th innings. In 2015 he became the fastest cricketer to reach 20 centuries in ODIS in his 108 innings. On 19 January 2018, Amla broke Virat Kohli’s record for being the fastest cricketer to reach the 27th century in ODI cricket. Amla has reached the milestone in 167 innings surpassing Kohli’s 169.
T20 Franchise career:
Hashim amla played for the Trinbago knight Riders in the Caribbean premier league (CPL). He has scored 410 runs in 11 matches with a strike rate of 126.54. Amla was picked for the 2016 Indian Premier League (IPL) by the Kings XI Punjab as a replacement for Shaun marsh. After that he proved his ability to be an important part of the teams batting line up.
He has scored 577 runs in 16 matches, with included two centuries and three half-centuries. He was named in the Cricbuzz IPL XI of the tournament. He was selected in the T20 XI of the year 2017 by Cricinfo. In October 2018 he was named in Durban Heat’s squad for the first edition of the Mzanai super League Twenty 20 tournament.
The Durban native enjoyed 15 years playing for the proteas across three formats during which time he established himself as a modern-day great. He has served for 15 years for his country. To put the South African cricket in good position in world cricket. Though he is taking leave from international cricket. He plans to continue his career in T20 franchise league across the world.
